The New Fairbank News Commentary

Good Friday everyone!

So how have you all been these past couple of weeks?

Have you missed your dear Doctor Loxley?

I'll be completely honest with you, I've missed you!

****************

So today I wanted to talk to you about a series of articles I have planned for the month of January under the pseudo header -The New Fairbank Commentary- or the NFC for short.

So let's give you an idea of what to expect (this post doesn't count by the way, think of this as an intro).

Anyway, in no particular order I will be posting:

1). A new Geek Dad article talking about the onset of the Terrible Twos, how we are trying to cope with her outbursts and also our first 'real' Christmas together.

2). Star Trek Attack Wing: A Second Opinion. Yup, I review the game that I played over the festive week.

3). Sarissa Precision Update. Following on from my review roughly two years ago I'll be talking about how my experiences with this company and their wood cut terrain has moved, finalising with my latest piece, the corner tavern - one of their most complicated pieces yet.

4). HellDorado: An Initial Opinion. By the end of next week my Christmas order from Element Games should be with me including some fun HellDorado Demons along with the rule book. Without playing a proper game, I am of course not in a position to do a proper review (Second Opinion) but I can do a First Impressions post (Initial Opinion).

5). Video Game of the Year! These past few weeks, what with the Steam sale I've been catching up on a lot of games that I've missed, so I tackle the games I've played this year, and what walks away with the NFN Game of the Year Award!

6). OH SHIT!! - A discussion about what it means to feel extreme emotions in video games, from empathy and friendship, to anger and fear, and why it is in the Post-Amnesia gaming period we are seeing so many games trying to make us poop our pants.

7). Two Years of Nonsense: A look back over the past year and how as New Fairbank News turns two things have evolved for the blog, my gaming and those around me.

***********

And there we have it. Currently I have no clue how these will come out, or even -when- they will come out, but the plan is to finish them all with my 2 year birthday which is of course on 21st January.

Anyway, that's all from me, hoping you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and most of all that I'll see you Cryptside!

- Your friendly neighbourhood Doctor Loxley
